Membership and Training
An annual Club Membership fee is payable in addition to squad membership fees paid to the training program that you choose to join.
Canberra Amateur Swimming Club membership rates for the 2016-17 swimming year are based on the number of swimming members you have in your family as follows:
- 1st swimming member $110
- 2nd swimming member +$50 (Total $160)
- 3rd swimming member +$40 (Total $200)
- 4th swimming member +$30 (Total $230)
- Subsequent swimming members FREE
Club fees are in addition to the mandatory SAL, SNSW and SACT 2016-17 membership fees which are as follows:
- Swimmer $65 ($25 Swimming Australia + $38 Swimming NSW + $2 Swimming ACT)
- Non-Swimmer $19.50 ($19.50 Swimming NSW)
- Junior Dolphins $0 (This is an exciting new initiative from Swimming Australia. Junior Dolphins, i.e. swimmers aged 7 and under as at membership renewal/joining, will not incur any fees)
Fees payable to Swimming Australia and Swimming NSW provide insurance for training and competition. Where a swimming member is under the age of 18, a non-swimming adult must also join as a member of the Club.
To join the Canberra Amateur Swimming Club, please click on the JOIN NOW button on the home page of our website.
Please note that, current membership of the Club is necessary in order to compete in all swimming meets. Swimming NSW and Swimming ACT have both advised that failure to be a financial member of a club will result in any times achieved at official swimming meets not being uploaded into the official National Results Database.
Canberra ASC members train in the ACT at the Gungahlin Leisure Centre as part of the YMCA Swim Squad program and with Club Aquatics as part of the AIS swim school program.
Gungahlin Leisure Centre
Canberra ASC has its home at the Gungahlin Leisure Centre in north Canberra. The centre is a partnership between the ACT Government and the YMCA. The YMCA delivers a swimming program at the Gungahlin Leisure Centre that includes swimming lessons for children from 6 months of age through to a competitive swim squad program for all levels of competitive swimmer with High Performance Swim Squad Coach Shannon Rollason.
Club Aquatics (AIS Swim School)
Canberra ASC members also train with Club Aquatics as part of the AIS Swim School at the Australian Institute of Sport in Bruce. The AIS delivers a swim school programme ranging from infant aquatics and school aged programmes through to adult learn to swim and Club Aquatics for competitive level swimmers.
